Iğdır University Cultural Heritage Conservation and Application Centre took part in the Digital Cultural Heritage Turkey Network meeting, which aims to strengthen the efforts to preserve Turkey's cultural heritage in digital environments and carry it into the future. Our centre director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Doğan, who attended the meeting on behalf of our university, shared information about Iğdır University's digital projects in the field of cultural heritage and the activities carried out in this field.
The meeting provided an important platform for universities, museums and research institutions working towards important goals such as the protection, digitisation and accessibility of cultural heritage across Turkey to come together and evaluate cooperation opportunities. What needs to be done to digitally record Turkey's rich cultural heritage, to promote it on national and international platforms and to transfer it to future generations were discussed. In this context, our centre director highlighted the contributions of Iğdır University by detailing the work carried out in the field of digital preservation and application of cultural heritage.
Iğdır University Cultural Heritage Conservation and Application Centre carries out studies aiming to increase the protection and accessibility of cultural values through digitisation and archiving projects. Among these studies, many riches from regional archaeological sites to folk culture elements are transferred to the digital environment; It is aimed to protect, archive and present these data to researchers in a sustainable way. Our centre director also informed the participants about Iğdır University's digital archive projects, database creation studies and future vision on the protection of cultural heritage.
This meeting is considered as an important step in terms of establishing a strong cooperation network for the digital preservation of cultural heritage values in Turkey and for our university to take an active role in this network. Iğdır University Cultural Heritage Conservation and Application Centre will continue its projects to contribute to digital cultural heritage studies and to keep the cultural values of our country alive.
